Good Mental health and wellbeing of employees is a key factor for Faradays as a business. So, last week Faradays ltd organised a half day training for managers, employees and clients. The aim of the training was to get a better understanding of Mental Health issues in Construction industry and learn how to spot signs of somebody struggling with mental health problems.
Did you know that construction workers are six times more likely to die from suicide that fall from a height? 10% of all suicides in the UK happen within the construction sector. 30-40% of absences from work are caused by mental ill health.
These numbers seems shocking and to understand how to recognise mental health illness and start a conversation with somebody struggling from it we looked at different common mental health problems like: depression, anxiety and stress.

The Mates in Mind representative taught us how to deal with stress, depression and anxiety, and more importantly how to start a conversation with somebody struggling from these issues. We gained a better understanding of mental health issues within the industry and looked at the ways to keep the health and wellbeing of ourselves and others as a priority.
‘The reality is that we all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. And just as with physical health, our mental wellbeing operates on a spectrum of up and down, from good to poor. It is affected by many things in life – both in and out of work.’
